When a customer plans to live in an apartment after renovation, it is clear where to start — with a conversation about what kind of lifestyle he leads, whether he often invites guests to his house, whether he likes to cook and so on. If he is going to renovate an apartment in order to give it to his beloved mother—in-law, the situation changes a little, but the wishes of the mother-in-law can still be found out. And what to do if the apartment is being prepared for rent? “Draw” a portrait of the future tenant. What is his age, habits, financial situation, for what purpose he came to the city and how long is he going to stay in it. And in which interior it will feel good.

This apartment, according to the designer Ekaterina Rebrova, should appeal to a person who works a lot, feels tired from the frenzied rhythm of Moscow life and dreams of rest. At home, he wants to relax, jump out of the information flow and stay in a calm environment.

Here he will be able to forget about the contradictions of the surrounding world, because the designer has minimized all angles and contrasts, leaving only slight roughness. The rooms flow from one to another, they have a common color scheme (warm beige-caramel tones combined with light wood), the same finish (self-leveling coating on the floor and textured plaster on the walls).

Ekaterina Rebrova is not only a designer, but also a furniture manufacturer, so the furniture in the apartment is almost completely author’s. The objects perform a common task — to create a sense of harmony and peace, so all the lines are softened, circles, ovals and arches are everywhere, which bring an oriental theme to the interior.

In part, this interior was born as a response to the pandemic that built borders between countries. ”I haven’t been able to travel much lately, but I want rest and warmth,” explains Ekaterina, “that’s why I proposed this concept.” Customers supported her: everyone wants warmth and rest today.
Entrance to the bedroom. To make the bedroom look like a cave, transitions from the walls to the ceiling and from the floor to the walls were made smooth, oval panels were made of drywall. In the evening, when the lights are on, it’s very cozy here.
