To bring the sun and light into the initially dark apartment, the authors of the project Andrey Sviridov and Natasha Orekhova went to tricks.

This apartment had the most ordinary introductory: a new building, a typical layout from the developer, a small area of the apartment, ceilings of 2.7 m. The requirements of customers were also familiar and understandable: customers wanted a modern apartment with a large kitchen and a perspective “for the future” (the office may soon become a nursery, and the guest bathroom is a shower for the unborn child). Their own “features” were added to this. “The main problem of the original layout is a deep building and, as a result, dark areas in the central part of the apartment”” Andrei Sviridov and Natasha Orekhova note. To solve standard tasks, the architects resorted to not quite standard methods: they used underfloor windows, tinted mirror and smart glass.

Such solutions made it possible to create a feeling of penetration of one space into another, while each room remained isolated. For the same reason, all the furniture and rack panels are made to order according to the sketches of architects by the company “Mixon”. “They managed to make the cabinets in the hallway and the kitchen as a single, well-organized sculptural object”” the authors of the project emphasize.

The kitchen is separated from the living room by a low bar counter, and from the adjacent room — today’s office — by smart glass. “It is matted when electricity is applied. So it turned out to leave maximum light in the kitchen, both in the transparent glass mode, and at a time when the owner of the office prefers to retire,” the architects say. A round tinted mirror also adds light: it reflects a huge window in the sofa area and the mirror image acquires a sunny, bronze hue.

Another task of Andrey and Natasha was to achieve a natural, peaceful feeling of space. So a lot of wood appeared in the living room, similar in shade, but still different — it gave a sense of naturalness. The green color also works in conjunction with it. ”We used various shades — they are perceived as foliage — as well as materials that refer to stone — they can be found in the area near the large floor—to-ceiling window and on the kitchen countertop,” the architects draw attention.

In the bedroom, this color scheme continues. ”As in most of our projects, we strive to create the feeling of an apartment as a whole, subordinated to a single idea of space,” Andrey and Natasha admit. The same idea is served by a narrow window under the ceiling in the bedroom: through it natural light enters the master bathroom. And so that the night light does not interfere with sleep, the authors of the project have provided different lighting plots in the bathroom: “The cabinet, which is located under a narrow window on the bathroom side, acts as steps — this allows more light to get inside, and also to place shade-tolerant plants that receive light from white phytolamps. Through the bathroom, sunlight also enters the guest bathroom through the basement window — thus the dawn rays penetrate into the very depths of the apartment, connecting three rooms inside the apartment at once”” And this approach is certainly not found in typical apartments in new buildings.
