Taste preferences do not depend on gender — gray interiors are loved by couples, young people, and families with children. On Defender of the Fatherland Day, traditionally “men’s day”, we show seven brutal apartments, and you try to guess who lives in them.

“Concrete” apartment according to the project “Art Bureau 1/1”

Windows solved everything in this project: the customer liked the views of the alleys around the Patriarch’s Ponds, and the designers were fascinated by the light pouring out of them. “The windows look on different sides, and during the day incredible shadows appear in the apartment”” says Elena. The hostess turned out to be a strict and organized person – a circumstance that also contributed to the image of the apartment. So it turned out to be a space where everything is subordinated to showing this play of light, without being distracted by unnecessary details.

Apartment in Moscow, 130 m2

The designers of the Minina Design bureau organized a dressing room in the center of the apartment, and built a living room, kitchen and hall around it. Customers liked glossy materials, the contrast of black and white, and they wanted to participate in the choice personally, that is, to come and see everything with their own eyes. Even the seven—year-old son of the customers participated in the process – he liked working as a designer so much that it would be difficult for his parents to dissuade him from this profession.

Apartment in St. Petersburg, 200 m2

The customer has been living in this apartment for a year, it is minimalistic and dark, as he wanted. The predominant color here is black, it is accompanied by gray and the color of wood. With rare exceptions. In the office, for example, there is a terracotta leather sofa, which literally burns with fire against the background of a black wall. A bright sofa, according to Ilya Zeiman, appeared at the very end. The customer, tired of the repair, waved his hand and said: ”Come on!”

Apartment in a new building on the Petrogradskaya side, 63 m2

A friend of the designer Maria United asked to make a budget interior with a masculine, but at the same time sensual character in a monochrome color scheme. To make the interior seem warmer, most of the facades in the kitchen are finished with oak veneer. “While the customer lives alone and cooks a little,” says Maria. “She has sweaters stacked in the upper closets. Like Carrie Bradshaw, who kept them in the oven in her small apartment.”

Apartment for a young man, 73 m2

His parents bought an apartment for a very young man, and his mother discussed the layout and interior with designer Marina Kutuzova. Because boys are not interested in such things, and she still comes here to visit, and it was important to make everyone like it — both her son and her. Since mom is a fan of classic solutions, but they are not yet very suitable for the owner of the apartment due to age, a stylistic mix has developed: in general, a modern interior, but with classic stucco. Moreover, the stucco is deliberately voluminous, large and complex, which decorated the ceiling in the kitchen-living room.

Apartment for my son, 85 m2

Designer and decorator Ekaterina Begicheva has five sons, this is the apartment of the eldest. He independently improved his living conditions, and entrusted the design to his mother. Ekaterina made the public area as flexible as possible and ready to adapt to the interests of a large company of guests. If you move the sofa to the window, there will be a place for dancing in the center of the living room, and if you move the chairs to it, you can all get together at the TV.

Apartment for a couple, 60 m2

Before the renovation, the apartment was a typical Stalinka built in the late 1940s. After dismantling the walls, the authors of the project received a beautiful space with six windows — three on two opposite walls. The cube placed in the center of the apartment, cut off the private area from the public, set the tone and character of the entire interior. “With Laminam granite, we sheathed all internal surfaces, that is, the ceiling, floor, walls and doors. We are very glad that we were not afraid to work with granite with such large strokes”” say the designers of LEFT design.
