Homage to the Middle Eastern adobe architecture in the new project of the Spanish studio Masquespacio.

A new restaurant Living Bakkali has opened in Valencia, the bright organic interior of which was designed by the Spanish studio Masquespacio. The designers tried to recreate the iconic elements of Middle Eastern architecture: fluid built-in benches and partitions, rounded shapes of openings and a warm palette of terracotta and pink shades.

The cozy interior with soft lighting and rough walls turned out to be like a cave: the space is divided into small halls by partitions that smoothly flow into low built-in benches, and the tables at the windows are hidden in arched alcoves. To make the architecture of the restaurant resemble oriental, the authors built a real maze of micro-cement with smoothed corners and decorative windows of different shapes. At the back of the room there is a private dining room, which is accessed by a narrow corridor framed by illuminated curtains.

The similarity with the mud-brick Arab house is also emphasized by the cream plaster, which is used to treat walls, ceilings and built-in structures. In addition to it, the designers of Masquespacio, known for their love of bright colors, chose a rich terracotta shade of the upholstery of pillows and armchairs. Pale pink accent walls soften the contrast. The smooth lines and warm tones of the brown spectrum evoke not only the architecture of Middle Eastern cities, but also the plastic sand dunes of the surrounding desert.
