In Singapore, a new Cantonese restaurant 5 ON 25 has opened in the five-star Andaz Singapore Hotel, designed by the famous Hong Kong architect Andre Fu. He collected iconic elements for traditional Chinese interiors, but embodied them with modern laconism and playful romanticism.

The architect’s childhood memories of visiting Chinese teahouses and restaurants with his parents became a source of inspiration. To pay tribute to the decorative tradition of China, Fu used a lot of wooden panels: they are located on the walls and ceilings, and together with the parquet floor create the feeling of a casket. The palette is based on the author’s iconic combination of green and red colors for Chinese culture, which is balanced by smooth surfaces made of dark wood.

Monochrome parquet, minimalistic chairs and modest tables under white tablecloths allow visitors to focus on the spectacular architectural elements of the space. These are carved ceiling panels in the main hall, the openwork pattern of which echoes the pattern of expressive floral wallpaper and relief ornament on six vertical screens against the wall.

Even more classic decor in the private dining room, which can be divided into “red” and “green” dining rooms with a sliding partition. The floor is covered with carpet of two colors, the ceiling with geometric panels, the walls with dark and colored wood, mirrors, marble and typical Chinese wallpaper with herons. Despite the solid decorative “load”, the room does not look dark or stuffy: panoramic windows with patterned screens and elegant horn chandeliers help.
