On February 14, the Gucci brand will open a new space — a cafe and a cocktail bar on the Piazza della Signoria. The interior of Gucci Giardino 25 is inspired not only by brand codes and Florentine surroundings, but also by the history of the room — in the past there was a flower shop here.
The name of the cafe and cocktail bar Gucci Giardino 25 obviously refers to Gucci Garden – a multifunctional space with the function of a gallery, boutique and souvenir shop. It was reopened in January 2018 after a large-scale renovation: the creative director of the House Alessandro Michele changed the concept of the former museum and now, 4 years later, Gucci Garden is ready to blossom together with Gucci Giardino 25.
The Italian word giardino (”garden”) is also symbolic because in the past a flower shop was located on the site of the cafe. After crossing the threshold, visitors find themselves in a warm mustard-yellow room with chairs and a sofa of contrasting peacock feather color. Exposed wooden beams on the ceiling and oak parquet floors also warm the atmosphere, and custom-made boiserie panels remind of the times of the late XVIII century.
By the way, the cafe’s opening hours are quite unusual: Gucci Giardino 25 will receive its first guests from 8 a.m. until late at night. The menu is also appropriate: the usual breakfasts, lunches and dinners here are diluted with “windows” of light snacks, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Martina Bonci is responsible for the latter, she offers a series of balanced bright cocktails. Among them, for example, Mémoire di Negroni is a tribute to the more than a century-old Italian Negroni cocktail, which is said to have originated here in Florence.
As soon as the cafe opens, you will be able to study all the details in a special section on the Gucci Garden website.
