In her own apartment, architect Ariana Ahmad gets aesthetic pleasure from how all the finishing materials are combined with each other.

Ariana Ahmad’s own apartment is different from everything she did before: instead of an interior with classic elements, we see brutal details and gallery asceticism. “I have done a lot of projects for others and periodically thought about what I would like,” says Ariana. – And I decided that I would make myself a la museum space with white walls, technical directional light and art that I would collect”” The area of the apartment is small, 89 m2, but there was enough space for everything.

Ahmad loves strict, verified interiors and in her own apartment she relied on finishing materials: they are not flashy, but at the same time spectacular and high-quality. If you look into the corridor from the kitchen area, you can see them all at the same time: two types of marble, concrete, glass, metal and wood. “These are completely different textures, but they do not contradict, but, on the contrary, emphasize each other”” Ariana believes.

She left the concrete ceiling in order to maintain its maximum height (the architect often uses this technique), the bare load-bearing wall – because she liked the texture, but the marble slopes were her idea fix. “It was only necessary to decide from what kind of stone to make them. I had two options – dark gray and pockmarked. I chose the second one because it echoes the facade of the house and neighboring skyscrapers”” says Ahmad. From the same type of marble there are baseboards, a kitchen island, a sink in the bathroom and a floor in the hallway.

Utilitarian stainless steel appears in the kitchen, with which both the facades of the cabinets and the wall with the kitchen apron are finished. “The kitchen looks both technologically and very aesthetically pleasing,” says the architect. — There’s enough storage space for everything to be hidden, and I’ve trained everyone to clean up after cooking. It turns out a clean space, and the eye is happy about it”” A partition separating the bedroom from the hallway is made of glass in this apartment. ”I like it when the windows are immediately visible from the front door — there is a feeling of airiness of space,” explains Ahmad. From the bedroom side, the partition can be closed with a dense dark curtain, which is simultaneously responsible for privacy and comfort in this space. Another element of comfort is a warm honey—colored wooden floor, on which it is pleasant to walk barefoot.

Ariana has two small children, and everything is strict in their room, too, but a color appears – blue beds. The children wanted them to be bunk beds, so that no one would be offended, the architect made sleeping places under the ceiling, and below them there are play areas, so everyone has their own “upper shelf”. “I love when an apartment is not just a functional dwelling, but also a space in which you relax and get inspired,” says Ariana Ahmad. — I like sitting on the couch in the evening, watching the night lighting in the city turn on in waves. It’s an amazing view””
