The luxurious hunting lodge of Louis XIV has turned into the La Maison du Val hotel with eclectic interiors from the studio En Bande Organisée.

In the town of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the historic country residence of the kings of France, a new hotel has opened for a chic weekend in the bosom of nature. La Maison du Val, a new project of the LHTP group, is located in the hunting lodge of Louis XIV. The word “house” in this case is a clear understatement: we are talking about a spacious estate with a main building of 3,500 square meters, a huge park, a stable, a dairy farm and a spa. The work on the interiors of the hotel was entrusted to architects from the studio En Bande Organisée, who preserved historical details, used vintage items from different eras and bold modern solutions.

The building came to the new owners in excellent condition: outstanding examples of stucco and sculpture, old oak parquet, marble fireplace portals remained intact in the palace halls. An important task of the authors was to match the grandiose architectural elements with such an environment that the hotel guests felt at home. Comfort and warmth are provided by a collection of vintage objects, to work on which Gwenaelle Girard, co-founder of the studio, attracted antique dealers from Perche, Chartres, Lille and other cities of France. “It was important for us to create an authentic atmosphere of a warm rural house with the neighborhood of old and new, noble and ”rough” materials,” explains Girard.

There are public areas on the ground floor of the hotel: a bar and a small lounge, a restaurant, a library, a game room, several halls for seminars and other events. Developing the palette, the authors focused on the historical coloring of the premises and delicately introduced new elements. So, a delicate shade of green was restored in the restaurant hall, which perfectly emphasizes the ornate stucco, and the spacious bar is decorated in light milky tones. However, the interiors do not seem too “museum-like” — there are many contrasting combinations. The grandeur of Baroque architecture is complemented by large-scale minimalist lamps, and simple modern furniture makes spaces less formal and more residential.

The hotel offers its guests 49 cozy rooms. Architects made their interiors more concise, filled them with warmth and light with the help of brown, sand and yellow shades. In some rooms, the authors used accent painting of the ceiling, in others they highlighted minimalist headboards, panels and walls. Beautiful old parquet floors and marble fireplaces create a mood that is supported by a collection of accessories and art individually selected for each bedroom.
