It’s hard to guess, but the bright modern interior designed by Olga Solnyshkova is made according to ancient Taoist canons.

The terms of reference can be different. Olga Solnyshkova received it in the form of a brochure of about fifty sheets — a potential customer wanted to organize a new Moscow apartment according to the principles of feng shui and brought with her a voluminous list of recommendations compiled by a specialist in this Taoist teaching. Olga has never had anything like this in practice, but she decided to take a chance. “It was necessary to go through the eye of a needle between the BTI plan so that everything was legal, the feng shui master’s project and the wishes of the customer”” she says. The designer recalls that among the recommendations she received there were quite unexpected ones – for example, in the main bathroom it was in no case possible to put a stone, only a tile. But there were also logical ones: the feng shui master advised to put a children’s desk by the window and make sure that the daughter of the hostess sat facing the entrance. This is also a good idea from the point of view of psychology — with such a landing, the child feels confident, no matter who enters the room. By the way, as Olga tells, the daughter of the customer, although a junior, is really very independent and participated in the discussion of the interior on an equal basis with adults.

Being a follower of Eastern philosophy, the landlady is in love with France at the same time. It turned out that one does not contradict the other; the main thing is to establish the circulation of energies, and the shell can be any. So the image of Parisian apartments was taken as a basis, although with a degree of conditionality: in a modern house with panoramic windows, it is unrealistic to make tracing paper from French apartments, and details set the right direction — light walls, layout of moldings, stucco cornices. And the interior is filled with rather laconic modern furniture combined with bright textiles — Olga loves elegant fabrics and often makes them the highlight of her projects. In general, an outsider would never guess that this interior is subject to the principles of ancient teachings.

The apartment opens with a large entrance hall. Feng Shui demanded that it be square by all means, and we had to allocate additional meters for it — practical Olga still laments that it would be better to give them to the kitchen. But there are also obvious advantages of such a layout — an elegant hallway with parquet, a designer console and double doors sets a festive mood. In addition, the dog is based here – the owner keeps her strictly, does not allow her into the living room and even more so on the sofas.

To compensate for the large entrance hall, Olga took the kitchen to where the corridor was supposed to be in the original layout, and decorated it in her signature way: cabinets under the ceiling with smooth facades accommodate any trifle — everything is designed so that there is nothing left outside at all.

The customer’s daughter received a full suite — a small “dressing room” leads from the living room to the bedroom with a dressing room and a private bathroom. And for the customer herself, the principal moment was a large dressing room. By the way, if you look at the plan, you can see that the auxiliary premises account for about a third of the 110-meter apartment, but it is thanks to such generosity that everything else looks spacious and airy.

One of the features of feng shui is the ability to influence the flow of energies with the help of color. Sometimes this also created certain difficulties: the hostess wanted a bedroom in light colors, but feng shui required ochre shades. Fortunately, the percentage of ochre was not regulated, so Olga just added curtains with an active pattern, a golden armchair and several accents to the interior. It was necessary to introduce blue shades into the living room — they are there, including in the round picture opposite the sofa. It should be noted that this is not a prop for the time of shooting to replace the TV – the hostess refused the TV consciously and watches movies using a projector (blackout curtains are included with it, controlled from a remote control).

The painting is not the only circle in the apartment, there are generally many objects of soft, rounded shapes — one might suspect that this is also something esoteric. But Olga claims that it happened by accident. “The teacher at Stroganovka told me: “Olya, you are a very bright person, you always draw circles”” the designer laughs. Anyway, Solnyshkova’s approach to the project definitely has a beneficial beginning: the interior has developed, and they remained on good terms with the hostess.
