A new coffee shop “Zvon” has opened in Chernihiv Lane, which is located right in the bell tower of the church of the Beheading of the Head of John the Baptist under the Forest.
Trendy cafes on the territories of religious buildings are still a rarity. But there are several successful projects in Moscow. For example, in 2020, the cafe-refectory Antipa with the functions of a lecture hall was opened at the church of the Holy Martyr Antipas of Pergamon.
And this year, inspired by the experience of Antipa, the parish of the Patriarchal Chernigov Metochion decided to open a coffee shop right in the bell tower building. Once there was a church store located here, but it moved to a new building in Chernihiv Lane, so the room remained empty.
The designer Konstantin Makarov was entrusted to design a compact space with the filing of the employee of the farmstead Nelly Titova. The central element of the coffee shop was a display stand with pastries and coffee equipment. By the way, the buns come from the bakery of the Moscow Danilov Monastery, and here they are supplemented with toppings.
The institution received the telling name “Ringing” — brass elements, inserts imitating arched windows, as well as a wrought-iron church chandelier that gives the space solemnity remind of bells and domes here.
The menu of “Zvona” includes both classic and original coffee drinks — you can take them with you, or take a break from the city noise in an atmosphere of tranquility at the bar.
