In New York, a new restaurant by Spanish chef Dani Garcia Casa Dani has opened in the space of the Citizens gastronomic cluster. Architects from the Rockwell Group bureau used terracotta tiles, beige plaster and emerald accents to recreate the palette typical of a typical Mediterranean dwelling.

“We focused on the image of an old Spanish villa,” the authors say. “That’s why there are so many noble natural materials in the interior: the floor is covered with fine dark parquet, the reception desk is made of marble, panels of matte terracotta bricks are adjacent to artisanal glazed tiles.” The main hall of the restaurant, which can be accessed by passing through the bar and descending a small staircase, was turned into a rustic patio by the architects: there are openwork panels and curtains, paved floors and olives in ceramic tubs.

The monochrome interior of the restaurant is decorated in different shades of clay and terracotta, which is used for wall and floor decoration. Its warm color is picked up by matte sand plaster, as well as natural wood furniture upholstered in brown leather. The height difference in the two-light space is smoothed by modules on the ceiling, similar to sagging pieces of fabric, and soft lighting and lace curtains create a sense of privacy and comfort.

As in real patios, there are many living plants in the interior of Casa Dani, the foliage of which echoes with an accent abstract canvas in emerald tones and a decorative fireplace lined with glossy tiles. Against the background of tactile natural surfaces, the minimalist steel block in which the architects placed the kitchen stands out sharply. Guests of the restaurant can watch the cooking process both from the bar area and from the main hall.
